The Omaha Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee accepts applications year-round for the Electricians Apprenticeship, Construction Electrician, and Construction Wireman programs. 

The Construction Wireman program is a four-year entry-level program that consists of five levels.  A placement test will be given if an applicant has the prior verifiable experience, by way of check stubs, W-2s, tax forms, or a letter from previous contractors.  Starting pay for a CW-1 is $15.07 per hour on the check.  Pay increases as you advance up to the level of CW-5.  The pay for a CW-5 is $23.68 per hour on the check.  Advancement is achieved by: completing the required coursework; working the required number of hours; and taking a test to show skill improvement.  At any time, a person may choose to stay at their current pay period. After completing all five levels, you may enter into the Construction Electrician program.

The Construction Electrician program is a three-year program intended for electrical workers with more than 8000 hours (about four years) of verifiable experience. A placement test will be given when the applicant has provided verifiable experience, by way of check stubs, W-2s, tax forms, or a letter from previous contractors. The starting pay for a CE-1 is $27.98.  Pay increases with advancement and can reach up to $34.44 per hour on the check.  Once the person receives a Journeymen’s license from the States of Nebraska and Iowa and successfully completes the final test of the Craft Certification, the Construction Electrician will become eligible for Journeyman Wireman status in IBEW Local 22.

The Apprenticeship program offers several programs with different focus areas: Inside (Construction/Industrial), Residential, and Low Voltage.  The individual career paths allow you to earn while you learn.  These programs focus on hands-on and classroom instruction over the course of three to five years.
